Parts of southern China have been ravaged by rainstorms, in particular, the provinces of Hunan,Hubei, Zhejiang and Jiangxi. Heavy downpours hit eastern parts of Jiangxi Province and torrential rains killed eight and forced the relocation of 140-thousand in the central province of Hunan. Meanwhile, water levels in many rivers and dams are rising to dangerous levels. In Chongqing, a rainstorm affected about 1.3 million residents.
The national meteorological center forecast that the rainstorms in southern China will weaken over the next few days.
Nowadays the weather is very bad in China, A nasty sort of day has influenced obviously patr of China. Heat wave and Rainstorms continue in area of China. The bad weather, the major source of the Global Warming. Human have to pay attention to this reason. Stop disafforestation, Stop pollution
We need to konw that the earth, upon which mankind depends for survival is in danger. There are results "given back" to us by Mother Earth

A heat wave has been continued in China that discomfort for people and it is no end early in this term. The heat weather may continue until the few days. Next week is forecast to be boiling and sunny in many parts of China. The boiling weather has lasted for almost two weeks. The average daily temperature is above 35 degrees Celsius and this is so far in this summer. Besides west China area, other places in north China area are also discomfort for residents.
The heat wave has triggered power consumption is increasing rapidly. The Electric Power Company report shows the main reason is the increase of the use by air conditionings. With the hot weather expected to continue in July and August, the daily power consumption will keep rising.

What is the first thing that hits me when the word starvation is uttered?... Malnutritioned African children, children in Bosnia with their rib cages in sight when it shouldn't be and more images of children suffering from poverty...
As I read articles after articles about this devastating state in parts of our world,I can't help but to think about how this crisis will never come to end but continue on in a vicious cycle...
Billions of children have died and are dying."Every year 15 million children die of hunger",(http://library.thinkquest.org/C002291/high/present/stats.htm). Even if they live through it,the suffering doesn't seem worth living through. We do have many organisations(world food programme, world vision, feed the children, etc.) trying to do their bid to help these many victims but there's only so much that can be done.
Causes for this misfortune include adverse weather conditions which makes it very difficult for crops to grow.Apart from that,I feel that the government's inefficiency over the many many years hasn't made anything better for it's people. What's really frustrating is that CHILDREN are paying for their inefficiency...not just CHILDREN but millions of them. The term millions already suggest the fact of overpopulation which is also probably one of the contributing factors to the never ending shortage of food, and overpopulation links back to an inefficient government. If the people were educated on basic things like family planning or if they had restrictions like the one child policy like the one China had,maybe...just maybe, things would not have got out of hand till this very day.
it's just sad...really is...
This is why we should never take what we have for granted and we should be more aware of the difficulties that others face in the world. I believe that empathy towards another person makes us better people.I know I said that only so much could be done but at least that would still make a difference to someone out there in need. It will not eradicate the crisis but it still makes a difference...

I feel the temperature rising like EL NINO!
*credit to owners for pictures*
So its just been reported that the world will be facing an El Nino. So what exactly is an El Nino. This really did puzzle me for a while but I finally found out!
An introduction...
An El Nino is a temporary change in the climate of the Pacific ocean which occurs in the region around the equator. This causes the ocean surface to warm up and places where thunderstorms normally occur, it moves easterly.
And what really causes such a phenomenon?
Normally winds are blown from east to west along the equator. This then piles water up in thw west part of the Pacific. In the eastern side, cool deeper water gets pulled up from below which then replaces the water which was pushed westerly. In simple words, warm water of around 30 degree celcius in the westerly side and cold water of around 22 degree celcius in the easterly side.
In an El Nino, winds pushing the water gets weaker. This results in some warm water which is piled up in the west which goes back down to the east side, and not much cold water gets pulled up from below. This then causes water in the eastern Pacific to get warmer. Not only does it affect the temperature of the water in the Pacific but also causes the winds to be weaker!! If winds get weaker, oceans will remain warm and this is known as a positive feedback and how El Nino is all started.
How does El Nino affect the world?
So the El Nino season is back. What risk can the world be looking to during this season? Well due to the warmer climate, the risk of forest fires will increase. This would cause such a problem to which ever country it occurs in. In the first lesson of our geography lesson with Ken, we all learnt how geography can relate to us as individuals. the 4 factors are social, political, economic and cultural.
With the high risk of forest fires ocurring, these 4 factors can affect a certain country.
Social: Many lives and houses will be destroyed
Political: Government would need to inject alot of funds to help rebuild destroyed houses and properties
Economic: Business would not be able to run, income and economy for the country will drop
Cultural: Different races can come together and help each other and also neighbouring countries can lend a helping hand
Due to the hotter temperatures, drier conditions and stronger winds, the risk of haze will increase causing pollution for a country. Crops will be affected such as sugar, soya bean, rice which are produced by India and this is due to the expected drought which may hit India causing poor harvest. Drought is also expected in Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, West America and Philipines which would affect the wheat, palm oil, cocoa and rice respectively. This would then lead to a high demand of food as these countries are invovled in the exportation of their goods to other countries around the world. This would not be a very positive factor especially during this economic downturn the whole world is experiencing now.
This is a chart showing the El Nino slowly developing which was uploaded on the net just 2 days ago.
